THE CHEF

Marine Durand
Professional Crepe eater since 1987

Marine always loved making food for people, especially for friends and family. For her, it is the best feeling in the world and has always brought her joy, knowing everyone has a full belly

She starts learning how to make crepes at 15 years old in Saint-Jacut-de-la-Mer in Brittany at her uncle’s restaurant.

I LOVE FOOD, I LOVE EATING, I LOVE CREPES !

After her studies in International Business in Nantes, San Diego & New York, she decided to fully pursue a career in hospitality. She opened two restaurants in Paris but thrived by her envy to discover new adventures, in 2015, she moved to London. It’s over there that she reconnected with her long lost passion for Crepes by managing a Crepe’s Food truck.

In 2017, she moved to Cape Town and jumped into the social justice sector by co-opening the first hospitality school for formerly incarcerated women of Pollsmoor prison.

But the craving for good French crepes was too high and by the end of 2018, she opens her first solo catering company: CREPE TOWN. Since that time, she travels in and around Cape Town, sharing her passion for crepes with the Capetonians.

To keep at heart her passion for social justice, by 2020, she wants to make Crepe Town, a 100% women affair.
